PFS-2 Retrospective Training

JAN 23, 2025
10:00 am CST

This course will provide an overview of the Protective Factors Survey, 2nd Edition (PFS-2) designed for use with parents and caregivers participating in family support and child maltreatment prevention services. The tool assesses multiple protective factors relevant to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and provides an indication of parent protective capacity, including the areas of resilience and family functioning, access to concrete supports, social support, knowledge of parenting and child development, and nurturing/attachment. The course will provide an overview of the instrument, including general overview, instructions for implementation, scoring, and interpretation of results.

This course is intended for use with Iowa family support practitioners utilizing the instrument to measure changes in protective capacity of families served.  Additionally, the course will cover changes to Iowa Family Support requirements (including Early Childhood Iowa, Shared Visions, and Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program) relevant to implementation of the revised version across Iowa program. This includes, but is not limited to, short-term and ongoing group-based parent education, and short-term home visiting programs.
